Vision is a gift from the Holy Spirit that always bubbles up from within the community of faith, the congregation. Creating vision, casting vision, or even charting a course to achieve a vision is never solely the work of the pastor or even the session. The people of God must come together collectively seeking the Lord in prayer and asking, where are you at work Lord and who are you calling us to be?
The first task of facilitating vision is prayer and discernment. The second task of facilitating vision is prayer and discernment!!! God is always speaking and directing, but the way forward will most certainly take us beyond our capacity to live into God’s vision by ourselves. Most assuredly, the Holy Spirit will lead us to a place in which we are dependent upon the presence and power of Christ to live into God’s vision. We are called to be nothing less than Christ’s ambassadors of grace, mercy, love, justice, and reconciliation.
