To paraphrase James Finley, God may not protect us from everything, but God sustains us through everything. As the season for intentionally giving thanks is upon us, take a moment to reflect upon your year. Perhaps (most likely) you have not been protected from tragedy, loss, grief, heart break, or difficulty, but I wonder, in the moments of great trial, how did God sustain you? How did those difficult moments open new avenues to experience deeper union with God? Usually, when we are in the midst of difficult moments, God may seem hidden; it is only upon careful reflection and recollection that we can identify God’s hand sustaining us. So I wonder, how can you give thanks to God for God’s sustaining presence through some of life’s most challenging and painful moments this past year?

Peace,

Kyle
